Stillwater Sports, in partnership with Boxer Superstores and Coca-Cola, has launched the Boxer Super Run, a new five-kilometre road run in Durban, scheduled for 15 October.

“We’re excited to launch the Boxer Super Run, a fast-paced 5km road race that is designed to accommodate participants of all fitness levels,” said Michael Meyer, Stillwater Sports Managing Director. “With the 5km distance being a global favourite, this event attracts a diverse range of runners, from seasoned athletes seeking to push their boundaries to newcomers exploring the world of road running. By infusing excitement into the sport, the Boxer Super Run aims to contribute to the growing popularity of shorter road races.”

“Runners will join like-minded individuals by selecting one of two waves that align with their preferences,” said Meyer. “A highlight on race day will be the Boxer Super Run Elite Race where South Africa’s elite athletes will go head-to-head in a men’s and women’s race. With the elites vying for the coveted title of ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of the inaugural Boxer Super Run 5K, these two races are going to be fast! Whether you’re an elite runner, a casual enthusiast, or new to the sport, you want to be part of this unique experience that is set to redefine the running scene in Durban.”

The ‘Open Wave’ will kick things off at seven in the morning and is for “anyone and everyone, club runners, serious runners, schools, runners who prefer an early start, masses etc.”

That’ll be followed by the ‘Super Social Wave’ at eight o’clock, which is for “dress up, groups, company groups, charities, runners who prefer a slightly later start etc.”

The Elite Women’s race will follow at 09h45 and the Elite Men at 10h00.

“Boxer is ‘super’ excited about the launch of the Boxer Super Run,” said Lee-Ann Pillay, Boxer Superstores Head of Department: Marketing. “We are proud to host the most social run in South Africa, right here in KwaZulu-Natal, the place where it all began for Boxer, 46 years ago. We are thrilled at the prospect of seeing many runners, both professional and social, taking on the 5km race and I encourage you to purchase your entry tickets now as they are going to sell out fast! We cannot wait to see you at the Boxer Super Run!”

The Boxer Super Run will start on Snell Parade and end at Blue Lagoon Park in Durban.
