Sky New Zealand has promoted Tex Teixeira to the newly-created role of Director of Live Sport Innovation and Community Engagement at the pay-TV broadcaster.
In his new position, Teixeira will be responsible for improving fan coverage on Sky’s platforms and delivering “sustainable professional competitions” in the country.
Having joined Sky New Zealand in 2012, he was most recently Director of Sport and Broadcasting. Prior to this, Teixeira spent 20 years at SuperSport in South Africa.
He will spearhead the pay-TV broadcaster’s efforts to innovate on fan experiences, while leading Sky’s investment into grassroots and community sport.
In addition, Sky said he will have a special focus to help drive equality in women’s sport and help build relationships with the Maori and Pasifika communities to help drive the take-up of sport.
