Cricket South Africa and Momentum have announced the extension of Momentum’s support for women’s cricket in the country.
Momentum’s sponsorship will continue to be applied towards the Proteas Women, with the latest agreement also including the sponsorship of the SA Women’s under-19 team.
“CSA’s partnership with Momentum has been enduring for many years, founded in the shared passion of making cricket accessible to all. We are pleased with the road travelled with Momentum to make women’s cricket the shining brand it is today. This extension comes at the time when the Proteas Women have done South Africa proud and made history by featuring in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, a feat no other South African national cricket team has achieved. I am confident that it will be an added morale booster for the team as it prepares for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in Bangladesh,” said CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki.

Momentum has been the headline sponsor of the national senior team since 2013. During this time the team has reached two successive ICC 50-over World Cup semi-finals and a maiden ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final.
CSA and Momentum mutually agreed that Momentum would relinquish headline sponsorship of the Proteas Women to concentrate on other properties within the cricket ecosystem.
“Momentum has been very vocal about bridging the gender pay gap in sport and we are committed to making a positive difference in this regard. It has been proven that the more people who watch women in sport, the greater the media visibility, attracting sponsorship and narrowing the gender pay gap. One more fan can contribute to levelling the playing field for women. We therefore encourage every citizen, potential sponsor and institution to get behind women’s sport and elevate their impact in the world of sport. We are proud of how our women cricketers have fought their way up the world rankings, grateful to our partners, CSA, and excited that Momentum continues to be associated with the Proteas Women,” said Charlotte Nsubuga-Mukasa, Head of Momentum Brand.
