Lions Cricket, the Wanderers Sports Medical Centre, and training enterprise MediCoach have come together to form a partnership.

The three entities are embarking on creating the Lions Athletic Monitoring System (L-AMS). This will give the governing body – the Central Gauteng Lions – an innovative platform with which to monitor players from the Lions Cricket Women’s and Men’s Academy teams and the Lions Cricket under-19 teams.

For Lions Cricket CEO, Jono Leaf-Wright, this development is significant.

“The pairing of WSMC and MediCoach will leave no stone unturned when it comes to every player in our eco-system,” he said. “With this technology and our unrivalled expertise, the Lions Pride can equip and empower each player to ‘Beat their Best’, resulting in Lions Cricket continuing to lead the way when it comes to innovation, player support, education, and rehabilitation. It’s about investing in the people that make you proud – our Pride.”

“With MediCoach, we can now build our own data-driven platform and house data accordingly, which will incentivize our medical practitioners at WSMC, who do the hard work of inputting data, to produce post graduate qualifications, in their respective fields of Physiotherapy, Sports Science, Biokinetics, Sport Medicine and Psychology,” said Craig Govender, Director of the Wanderers Sports Medical Centre. “This  Injury Surveillance platform is a state-of-the-art, cloud-based software system tailored to capture, process, communicate, and analyze vital data related to player health and performance. It is designed to support sports teams at all levels, from amateur to professional, providing a holistic approach to injury prevention and management.”

The first conversations regarding this partnership took place two years ago, with the three entities now in a position to formalise it.

“Working with the Wanderers Sports Medical Center and Lions Cricket has been a long-term goal of ours, so we’re thrilled that we’ve paired up and our partnership can commence,” said Niall Naidoo of MediCoach. “Amazing things are set to happen in this space and we cannot wait to educate and empower the medical staff at WSMC, the players and coaches at Lions Cricket.”

MediCoach will provide a full onboarding process to the Lions Cricket coaches and the medical staff of WSMC.
