The Imperial Wanderers Stadium will host a cyclethon on 15 November, in collaboration with the Smile Foundation and 947 Ride Joburg.
The stadium will play host to a maximum of 500 participants, but interested cyclists can also participate from the comfort of their own homes or at a nearby Planet Fitness gym.
A cycling instructor will lead and motivate the cyclethon riders for four hours throughout their virtual 94-kilometre 947 Ride Joburg race.
All riders will be linked virtually to the same race and will complete their 94 kilometres in their own time. Every rider will need to use the official app, Motosumo, to track and measure their 94-kilometre ride to receive an official 2020 finish and medal.
Participants who choose to attend the event at Imperial Wanderers will also receive a medal and goody bag, and refreshments will be available. This is to simulate water points during the ‘not-so-virtual’ race, which runs from 08h00 to 12h00.
The entry fee is R400 per entrant.

Planet Fitness is another key partner powering this event by providing 300 gym stationary bikes. They have also allocated spinning studios at 10 of their gyms so participants can take part in the race. With COVID-19 compliance regulations in place, bookings are essential on the website.
