Investec Signs Golfer Zethu Myeki

Investec has increased its stake in local women’s golf, with the signing of South African professional Zethu Myeki.

This, off the back of the recent announcement of the banking group’s four-year renewal with the Sunshine Ladies Tour. Investec already sponsors three other South African players, in the form of Lejan Lewthwaite, Nicole Garcia, and Stacy Bregman, as well as Irish pro Stephanie Meadow.

“Investec has seen the possibilities of the talented, level-headed and determined Zethu,” said Peta Dixon, Investec’s Head of Sponsorships. “She is certainly a rising star and possesses all the right ingredients to enjoy a most promising career. For many years now, Investec has invested in the next generation of women, and is committed to enabling more women to thrive. Like so many, Zethu has overcome multiple challenges and done so with strength, compassion and hard work. We believe that with the support and guidance of Investec, removing some of the financial obstacles, Zethu will thrive, performing with an unrivalled passion, absolute professionalism and tremendous pride – I have no doubt that she will show us what she’s made of.”

Eastern Cape-born Myeki joined the pro ranks in 2020 following an amateur career that saw her rise to second in the GolfRSA rankings. As a GolfRSA National Squad member and Ernie Els Foundation graduate, Myeki represented South Africa seven times on the international stage, producing a career best top 10 in her final event, the Spirit International in the United States.

Myeki plays out of Randpark Golf Club in Gauteng and claimed her first pro win in the Vodacom Origins of Golf series at Mount Edgecombe in KwaZulu-Natal in September last year.

“I started playing golf when I was 13, and it was love at first sight,” she said. “I won many times as an amateur, but winning my first pro title was indescribable – it was the greatest moment of my career. I am incredibly honored that Investec has invested in me and my goals, allowing me to do what I love. It’s a dream come true to join the likes of Stacy, Nicole and Lejan in the Investec stable. I look forward to representing this powerhouse brand to the best of my ability, with so many possibilities on and off the course.”
