South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs have launched their own potato chips brand.

The launch is part of the Chiefs strategy to diversify their revenue streams and connect with their fans in new and innovative ways. The Kaizer Chiefs chips come in different flavours, such as tomato, grilled steak, and salt and vinegar.

“Kaizer Chiefs, the football club, South Africa’s premier football club, is proud to announce its bold venture into the culinary world with the debut of its first-ever snack range,” said club spokesman, Vina Maphosa.

The date for the chips to be available at shops has yet to be announced, but Maphosa said it would be before the end of October.

In recent years, Chiefs have struggled to replicate their past success on the pitch, but they remain one of the most popular and financially successful clubs in South Africa. This is due in large part to the club’s strong brand and its ability to attract and retain sponsors.

“This is part of the football world. You cannot watch TV without snacking; you cannot watch the match at the stadium without snacking, so this is what we are all about as Kaizer Chiefs. They [chips] come in different packages, and they will be selling all over the country at retail stores at a wonderful price.
