Nielsen’s latest Fan Insights report now available

Nielsen Sport South Africa’s latest Fan Insights report has been completed and is available for purchase.

It provides a comprehensive breakdown of sports engagement trends, fan media behaviour, and brand attitudes.

According to Nielsen, “this data is essential for any brand seeking to create effective sponsorships or marketing strategies tailored to the growing sports fanbase.”

The July 2024 Nielsen Fan Insights report makes for interesting reading, with a couple of key take-outs. They include reporting that sports interest in South Africa currently finds itself at an all-time high. According to Nielsen, 94.7% of Nielsen Fan Insights SA respondents indicated a ‘top-2’ level of interest in at least one sport. This is up from 93% in 2023.

Rugby, cricket, cycling, and athletics have apparently seen notable year-on-year growth in fan interest.

“These increases provide a unique opportunity for brands to connect with passionate audiences in these areas,” said a Nielsen statement.

The NFI report looks at a breakdown of sports and lifestyle interests, media consumption habits, and brand affinities and product purchasing trends.
