SABC Sport has announced the acquisition of free-to-air broadcast rights for France’s Top 14 rugby tournament.
The first live broadcast was on SABC 2 last weekend (9 and 10 January).
The Top 14 is regarded as one of the best club championships in the world, with some of the game’s biggest names playing in the league, including the likes of Springboks Eben Etzebeth, Handre Pollard and Cheslin Kolbe.
“The acquisition of the Top 14 means we can bring live world-class rugby to our viewers that features some of the world’s best players,” says SABC Sport General Manager Gary Rathbone. “This is a fantastic acquisition adding to our already impressive line-up of live international and local sport, which already includes the PSL, The FA Cup, Bafana Bafana, SAFA Women’s League, the German Bundesliga and the FA Women’s Super League.”
