Good news for local fans of English football, particularly those without access to SuperSport, as sportbusiness.com reports.
The SABC has secured free-to-air rights to the English Premier League for the 2022-23 season.
The rights are for one live match per weekend, at the UK kick-off time of 15h00 on Saturday, as well as four delayed matches, a build-up package and a magazine show.
Previously, South African free-to-air direct broadcast provider OpenView held rights to show one live Premier League match per week from 2019-20 to 2021-22.

Free-to-air broadcast rights to the Premier League are sold by the Infront agency in sub-Saharan Africa until at least the end of the 2024-25 season.
SuperSport acquired the English-language, French-language and Portuguese-language pay-television rights to all 380 matches per season across the region. Its latest deal spans 2022-23 to 2024-25.
The SABC previously held free-to-air rights to the Premier League in 2018-19.
