SuperSport Retains Premier League Rights in SSA

SuperSport has retained its English Premier League rights across sub-Saharan Africa until the end of the 2024-25 season.

The agreement, which includes South Africa, covers all languages and all distribution platforms.

SuperSport’s current Premier League rights agreement runs from 2019-20 to 2021-22.

Following that came the news that SuperSport had extended and expanded its contract in sub-Saharan Africa for the club competitions organised by European governing body Uefa.

SuperSport has renewed its broadcast contract for a further three years, taking in the 2021-22 to 2023-24 seasons, in a deal that covers the Champions League and Europa League, plus the new third-tier Europa Conference League and Youth League.

The rights extend across the entire broadcast territory of sub-Saharan Africa and apply to all distribution platforms, including television, internet and mobile. SuperSport currently holds rights to the Europa League in South Africa only, with the new deal extending to the entire territory of sub-Saharan Africa.
