Ahead of the final week of this year’s Tour de France, SuperSport unveiled a documentary on the story of NTT Pro Cycling, the tour’s only African team.
It’s called ‘Peak’.
“When something has never happened before, nothing is defined,” said Doug Ryder, NTT Pro Cycling Team Principal in 2017, according to the documentary’s promotional material.
“People said he could never get an African team to the Tour de France,” it goes on to say.
“He proved them wrong.”
“The story of an African cycling team’s dream and its rise to the pinnacle of the sport. Incredible highs and dramatic lows. This documentary takes you on the journey of Doug Ryder and his team, with its higher purpose in the Qhubeka charity, as they attempt to summit the highest peaks of the cycling world.”
Peak premiered on SuperSport on 7 September, but can also be viewed on Catch Up.
