Video – NBA Celebrates Martin Luther King Legacy

The NBA honoured the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr ahead of Martin Luther King day on the 18th of January.

Players warmed up in shirts honouring the civil rights campaigner, while the league produced a new video entitled ‘We Must Learn’ encouraging fans and players to continue his legacy.

Featuring soundbites from Dr. King’s speech ‘We Must Learn to Live Together’, as well as the instrumental arrangement of Public Enemy’s ‘Harder Than You Think’, the spot depicts still images and video from peaceful protests throughout the Civil Rights Movement infused with footage of NBA players, coaches and leaders demonstrating in their communities in the wake of social injustice over the past year.

The spot features a number of famous faces from the world of basketball, including Dallas Mavericks’ Mark Cuban and Luka Dončić, the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Lonzo Ball and Zion Williamson from the New Orleans Pelicans.
