The Overlap, the podcast series led by Manchester United legend Gary Neville, has launched a sponsored episode with Gillette in support of ‘Movember’.

Former footballers Ian Wright, Jamie Carragher, Aaron Lennon, and Shaun Wright-Phillips all feature in the new episode, which encourages men to speak up and ‘be a men’s health hero.’

Reflecting on their personal experiences, the episode reflects on topics such as navigating difficult moments, while offering their advice to anyone struggling to speak about their feelings.

Airing ahead of Movember, their conversations aim to incite men to open up about mental health, highlighting how anyone can be a men’s health hero.

During the episode, Lennon speaks about overcoming his personal mental health challenges, while Carragher reflects on finding someone to talk to during his time at Liverpool to cope with the pressure to perform.

Wright-Phillips meanwhile shares his own insights on playing at the top level.

The ex-footballers also shared their feelings on whether football can be better equipped to deal with players who need support.

“Movember marks the time of year when we join the call for guys to stand up, shave down, and be a men’s health hero,” said Callum Wood, Gillette UK and Ireland Shave Care Brand Director. “As we celebrate over a decade of work as Movember’s official shave partner, we’re delighted to be joining forces with The Overlap to encourage men to engage in real conversations and change the face of men’s health. We hope the honesty of Ian, Jamie, Shaun, and Aaron can help empower more men to talk freely about their mental health.”

For more than a decade, Gillette and Movember have collaborated to help change the narrative of men’s mental health by encouraging early intervention and communication.

This Movember, Gillette is calling on all men to embrace their inner superhero and shave down in preparation to take on the Movember challenge.
