The Western Province Cricket Association has unveiled a new partnership with Southern Sun as its ‘Official Hotel Partner’ for the 2024/25 cricket season, with the option to extend this collaboration in future seasons.
Southern Sun, which already boasts partnerships in rugby, soccer, and other high-profile events, sees this as an opportunity to expand its footprint into cricket. It will provide WPCA’s professional teams, executives, and youth teams with access to Southern Sun’s extensive network of hotels across South Africa.

“We are proud to welcome Southern Sun to the WPCA family and we look forward to them looking after our teams when travelling around the country,” said WPCA CEO Corrie van Zyl. “We are sure the teams will enjoy the comforts and service Southern Sun are well known for.”
The timing of this partnership is particularly significant as South Africa prepares to host the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup in two years time. By aligning with cricket, Southern Sun strengthens its position as a key supporter of the sport’s growth and development, both at the grassroots and professional levels.
“We are delighted to partner with WPCA and support their teams throughout the season,” said Marcel von Aulock, CEO of Southern Sun. “At Southern Sun, we take pride in providing exceptional service and hospitality, and we look forward to contributing to the success of WPCA’s teams both on and off the field.”
