The organisers of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series have announced that the road running series is now a 10km series only.
It will boast three races in three cities in 2022: the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K (Sunday 15 May), Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K (Sunday 10 July), and Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K (Saturday 24 September).
“We are thrilled to announce that the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series has evolved into a 10km series that will be hosted in three cities in 2022,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. “We had a very successful 2021 with Absa signing as the title sponsor.”
With Absa’s support and that of other key sponsors such as PUMA and DHL, Stillwater Sports hosted two events in Durban and Cape Town in 2021, amidst strict Covid-19 regulations.
“Celebrated nationally, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series is a diverse road running series that brings together avid runners, walkers and individuals looking to live healthier lifestyles, all lining up with some of Africa’s greatest distance runners, while promising world-class achievement and fun for all participants,” says Meyer. “This year we are excited to once again take the action to the streets of the three major cities. Although emphasis will be placed on hosting a mass participation road race that highlights city landmarks, includes magnificent views and features lively performances from some of the host city’s leading performing arts groups, all three events will also boast an exciting ‘Contender Programme’ aimed at the racing snakes.”
