The Comrades Marathon Association and Flash Sponsorship have announced that the ‘Ultimate Human Race’ has secured a new partnership with First National Bank.
FNB will take up the position of ‘Official Financial Services Provider’ for the next three years.
“We are delighted for our client the Comrades Marathon, the journey that we are on with them, and the faith that they have placed in Flash as their commercial agency,” said Richard van der Schyff, MD of Flash Sponsorship. “The last two years have been devastating for the sport and sponsorship industry, and Comrades did not go unscathed. Today’s announcement is the culmination of over two years of work, and as we get to grips with Covid-19, as government regulations ease up, business confidence returns, and participants flock back to enter races like the Comrades Marathon, we are confident that this coincides with the positive shift in momentum and return to a somewhat sense of normal that we are all so desperately craving. To welcome FNB to the Comrades family is testament to this and a stride in the right direction.”
The 95th Comrades Marathon will be the 47th Down Run on Sunday, 28 August 2022, starting at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 05h30 and ending 12 hours later at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, covering a distance of 90.2 kilometres.
