Flash Sponsorship has signed as the ‘exclusive commercial agent’ to the Amashova Durban Classic, South Africa’s oldest road cycle race.
This compliments the agency’s list of existing clients that include IRONMAN SA, the Comrades Marathon, The Sharks and COSAFA.
“In many ways, Flash as a business was born out of cycling, and for some time now we have been searching for a rights-holder with whom we can share our knowledge and expertise in this space,” said Richard van der Schyff, Sales and Client Relationships at Flash Sponsorship. “The chemistry between ourselves and the Amashova team was immediate and we look forward to combining our ‘Flash Science’ with their “Shova” to deliver on our ‘North Star’, which is doing deals for our clients.”

The Amashova Durban Classic is one of the safest but toughest and most gruelling cycling events. This year it will take place on Sunday 23 October. There are three distances to choose from – 106km, 65km and 35km. It first took place in 1986.
“This race has such an incredible history and offers riders of various abilities the opportunity to participate – from cycling enthusiasts to test themselves on the 35km route, to experienced riders who can tackle the 65km route, or for the more serious “roadies” there is the original 106km classic,” said Van der Schyff. “Most importantly, the Amashova team provide full road closure on the day, making it safe for the whole family to participate.”
This year will see the 36th edition of the Amashova Durban Classic and a sold-out field is expected.
