Hollywoodbets has become the first sponsor to back women’s football in South Africa, by taking the title sponsorship of the SAFA National Women’s League.
SAFA established the league two years ago, but was forced to fund it itself, with Mamelodi Sundowns going on to win the inaugural title.
Hollywoodbets has now helped fund what will be called the Hollywoodbets Super League. The partnership is for a period of one year, with the betting brand investing over R17 million, from which the champions will pocket R2 million. The runners-up will bag R1 million and the rest of the teams will walk away with R150 000 at the end of the season.

The 14-team league format will remain as is. In addition, the winner of the league will play in the play-offs and qualifiers of the CAF Women’s Champions League, while the winner of that tournament will go on and play in the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
