Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run Moves to 2021

Stillwater Sports has announced that the 2020 Savanna Origin of Trails trail run has moved to 24 and 25 April 2021.

The Stellenbosch-based event will also take the form of a two-day stage race.

All of this in response to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa.

“We’re excited to host the Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run Experience in the form of a two-day stage race in 2021,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Our route designers have been spoilt for choice while selecting each stage’s route. On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2021 trail runners will get to experience the best and most exclusive trails on offer in Stellenbosch. We look forward to welcoming adventure seekers to the Festival Village at the Stellenbosch High School in April.”

“We love that the Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run Experience will give trail runners the opportunity to enjoy two days of exceptional trail running in the beautiful town of Stellenbosch,” says Kavir Gangiah, Media, Sponsorship and Events Manager, Distell Southern Africa. “The event is unapologetically bold, just like Savanna.  As with the mountain bike race, trail runners will be treated to a fantastic on-route experience from start to finish and we cannot wait to be part of the action. We look forward to bringing the ‘gees’ and refreshing trail runners with ice cold Savannas on and off the trails.”

Day one of the Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run will take the form of a stage of between 22 and 25 kilometres, followed by a stage of 15-17 kilometres the following day.

The entry fee is R950 and entries have opened. Entries close on the 20th of April or once full capacity has been reached.
