SPAR Joins Mr Price Foundation Challenge

SPAR is to partner with Mr Price on the first virtual Mr Price Foundation Challenge, which will take place on 5 and 6 December.

The fundraising event is calling all cyclists and runners, professional and amateur, to join the virtual challenge to raise funds to help break the cycle of poverty and inequality in South Africa through its education and skills development programmes.

Over the past 10 years, a small, dedicated group of cyclists has managed to raise over R5 million for the Mr Price Foundation. This year, due to the impact of the COVID-19, the event will be virtual, presenting an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to participate and raise funds for a worthy cause, with participants having the opportunity to ride or run distances ranging from three kilometres to 606 kilometres.

SPAR has a long-standing relationship with the Mr Price Foundation, having partnered with them on Jump Start, a skills readiness programme that trains unemployed matriculants for the world of retail and supply chain. The skills development programme bridges the gap between school and the world of work by providing candidates with life skills and experiential training to help them enter the job market better prepared.
