Totalsports Women’s Race 2023 unveils prize money

The Totalsports Women’s Race will boast a combined prize purse of R202 500,00 in 2023.

Taking place in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban on National Women’s Day (9 August), runners in each city will be able to compete for their share of the prize.

“We are proud to add to the Women’s Day celebrations by offering a combined prize purse of R202 500 at the Totalsports Women’s Race in 2023,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “That equates to a R67 500 prize purse per city. Prize money has been allocated to the top 10 finishers in the Open Category, with the Open winner taking home R12 000, the second-place finisher R10 000, and the third-place finisher R8000. Prize money has also been allocated to the top three finishers in the Junior, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ categories.”

A fun-filled Women’s Day celebration, the Totalsports Women’s Race encourages a healthy lifestyle and invites all women (grandmothers, aunts, sisters, mothers, and daughters) to run united in support of cancer awareness fundraiser PinkDrive.

There are five and 10-kilometre race options.

“We are proud to encourage excellence in women’s running in South Africa, and what better platform to do so than at South Africa’s largest Women’s Day celebration, the Totalsports Women’s Race,” says Meyer.

The Durban race starts on Masabalala Yengwa Avenue and finishes at Kings Park Athletics Track; the Johannesburg race starts and finishes at Marks Park, Emmarentia; and the Cape Town race starts and finishes on the Grand Parade.
