The United Aviation Group has taken up the headline sponsorship of the 56th SA Derby.
The four-day event will culminate on 3 October at the Kyalami Equestrian Park in Johannesburg.
“The Derby is a show like no other, successfully combining the beauty of the horse with sheer rider brilliance,” says United Aviation Group MD Jonathan Wolpe. “The United Aviation Group is extremely proud to be associated with South Africa’s toughest, most historic and most prestigious showjumping event, and I have no doubt that together we’ll elevate the sport of showjumping to greater heights, new audiences and welcomed sponsors.”
The SA Derby gets underway on 30 September and is a multi-discipline event, with an 18-obstacle, 1000m course ensuring only the best horse and rider combination comes out on tops.
“The United Aviation South African Derby is a most sought-after title on the equestrian calendar,” says Kyalami Park Chairlady and two-time Derby winner, Anne-Marie Esslinger.
“The Derby consists of competitions in dressage, showing and showjumping across all levels and age groups,” says Show Director Heather Mpofu. “It has always been a show with the best horse and rider combinations on offer on the African continent. In order to ensure that no one misses the action, the main Saturday and Sunday classes will be live streamed.”
