Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup Rescheduled for April

The FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup has been rescheduled for early April, with North-West University in Potchefstroom confirmed as the host venue.

The tournament was due to take place in December, but was postponed late last year, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 Omicron strain.

It will now take place from 1-12 April.

“The pitch and facilities are impeccable – of world-class standard indeed, and the people behind the scenes know what to do, when to do it, and to do so brilliantly,” says Sheldon Rostron, Local Organising Committee Chairman. “We aim to show the country and the world that despite the Covid-19 challenges, we can host a thoroughly enjoyable, safe and successful tournament.”

The last series the South African junior ladies team was involved in was against the Netherlands in 2019.
