The third season of the Betway SA20 is starting to take shape, with more and more aspects of next year’s tournament being finalised.
It’ll get underway on 9 January, with the final scheduled for 8 February at DP World Wanderers Stadium, showing a return to the venue after this year’s final took place in Cape Town.
The season kicks off with champions the Sunrisers Eastern Cape hosting MI Cape Town in the competition opener at St George’s Park. The opener will feature a face-off between SEC captain Aiden Markram and MICT’s new recruit Ben Stokes.

Season 3 has retained the same play-off structure as Season 2, but this time around they will be played at three venues, spreading the business end of the tournament to more fans, with Qualifier 1, the Eliminator, and Qualifier 2 setting up the road to the final.
St George’s Park in Gqeberha will host Qualifier 1, while SuperSport Park in Centurion will stage both the Eliminator and Qualifier 2.
The fixtures were unveiled in Johannesburg by Betway SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith, players from the six franchise teams, key stakeholders and the media.
“Season 3 is set to be bigger and better, with a fantastic line-up of matches that will captivate our fans,” said Smith. “We’re thrilled to start the season in Gqeberha with our defending champions and look forward to an action-packed summer of cricket. As we welcome international talent to the roaring pool of local stars, we aim to deliver an unforgettable experience for both players and fans alike.”
As with previous seasons, all matches will be broadcast live across seven territories, including Sub-Saharan Africa, India, the UK, Australasia, the UAE, and globally via ICC TV. Fans can also stay connected through Betway SA20’s social media channels for live updates and comprehensive coverage of all 34 matches.
The franchises are now preparing to finalise their squads, including filling their Rookie slot, at the upcoming auction on 1 October.
