The final of next year’s Betway SA20 will take place at Newlands in Cape Town.

It sees a move away from DP World Wanderers, which hosted the very first Betway SA20 final earlier this year.

The 2024 final will take place on the 10th of February, with Newlands also playing host to the first Qualifier on the sixth.

DP World Wanderers will host the two back-to-back knockout matches – the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 – on the seventh and eighth.

“Cape Town is not only a global tourist destination for summer holidays but is a proven event destination, having successfully hosted the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Final, the Volvo Ocean Race, the URC final, the Cape Epic and many more,” said Betway SA20 League Commissioner, Graeme Smith. “This is a city with a unique vibe, iconic locations and incredible entertainment options.”

The play-offs are a new addition to Season 2, with the top two teams contesting Qualifier 1, numbers three and four playing in the Eliminator, and the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator playing in Qualifier 2. This will set up a championship clash between the winner of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Qualifier 2 in the final on 10 February.

“As the City of Cape Town, we’re excited to partner with Betway SA20 and showcase our beautiful city during their Season 2 play-offs and final. We were proud when the joint-most successful IPL team, the Mumbai Indians, chose Cape Town to be home for their SA20 franchise and hope that securing Newlands as the venue for the final will be a good omen for MI Cape Town in Season 2,” said Deputy Mayor, Eddie Andrews. “We saw the buzz around the city, from cricket enthusiasts to casual sports fans alike during Season 1. Furthermore, the economic and environmental impact of the league aligns with our goals of making lives better for our citizens. We can’t wait to work with SA20 to showcase incredible cricket and our incredible city throughout the tournament, culminating in the play-offs and final at Newlands.”

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape will begin their title defence and host the Joburg Super Kings in the opening game of the Betway SA20 in Gqeberha on 10 January.
