Cricket South Africa has announced that the annual CSA Awards will once again be held on 7 July at Vodaworld in Midrand, between Johannesburg and Pretoria.

The event will see the return of an in-person awards show for the first time in three years, and a theme of ‘A Summer to Celebrate’ aims to “incorporate the most memorable elements of the past season that included numerous successes on and off the field”.

The event will be broadcast by SuperSport and CSA is promising “the staging of numerous event activations and special performances”.

CSA wants to use the awards to celebrate the year in South African cricket, which featured a maiden appearance in a World Cup final by the national women’s T20 team. The event itself was also successfully hosted in South Africa and drew record attendances and viewership figures. This was in the wake of South Africa also hosting the first-ever ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Proteas Men’s Test team finished the season with a 2-0 series win over the West Indies, while the ODI side earned automatic qualification for this year’s 50-over World Cup.

Another major highlight was the successful launch of the inaugural Betway SA20 competition, which was played out in front of packed crowds across the country.

On the domestic scene, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins and Northern Cape Heat were crowned champions of the 2022/23 CSA 4-Day Series in Division 1 and 2 respectively, while KwaZulu-Natal Inland’s AET Tuskers were promoted to Division 1. In the limited-overs format, the DP World Lions retained their CSA One-Day Cup trophy and the Momentum Multiply Titans claimed victory in the final of the CSA T20 Challenge.

The amateur awards will be held throughout the morning on 7 July, while a gala dinner will take place later that night to celebrate the nominees and winners of the professional awards.

Over 30 awards categories have been confirmed for the two sets of awards, with the nominees having been decided by a high-profile judging panel of experts.

As part of the build-up, an annual invitational golf day will also be held on 6 July.
