Vodacom believes it is on to something with its Sisonke Siya Winna campaign, rolled out in partnership with agency Openfield.
It leverages the mobile operator’s sponsorship of the Soweto Giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, and Openfield believes it overcomes the hurdle of not having fans in the stadium for a big game.
In a tribute to an era of dominance by Pirates and Chiefs, the campaign is giving fans the chance to own two of the most iconic symbols of Soweto history – a custom-rebuilt Gusheshe (BMW 325i e30) and Kentucky Rounder (Toyota Twincam GLI Sprinter).
“Sisonke Siya Winna” directly translated means, “Together. We Win”.
The campaign was launched ahead of the Soweto Derby, and at the end of this season in June, one Pirates fan will be handed the keys to a vintage Gusheshe custom-designed in team colours, while a Chiefs fan will slide into the driver’s seat of an iconic Kentucky Rounder modelled on the team’s identity.
